We talked with Michala from Galvanize Design and found out how she transformed an un-exciting space into a vibrant, functional ‘mudroom’ using Plantation Bamboo interior panels.
Tell us about the project…
“I had the task of transforming a dull space within a client’s home into a functional, vibrant area. I was designing some bespoke cabinetry to accommodate the many shoes, coats and backpacks for a ‘mudroom’ that I was working on, so I was really excited when I came across Plantation Bamboo’s website.”
Why did you choose Plantation Bamboo’s interior panels?
“As a designer I am always looking for something new and unique, and loved the look of the caramel coloured bamboo interior panels. They had a beautiful grain and when I discovered Bamboo is a sustainable yet incredibly durable product, I was sold. I knew then that the Bamboo panels would be the perfect material to use for the cabinetry. Steve from Plantation Bamboo was really helpful and immediately sent me a selection of samples of the different types of bamboo panels, this enabled me to create a concept board and visualize how all the elements featured worked together.”
What was your favourite part of the project?
“It is always exciting working with a new product, with Plantation Bamboo’s panels being no exception. Creating eye-catching designs is definitely my favorite part of the creative process. I was thrilled with how all the different elements worked together. The accents of copper complimented the bamboo perfectly. Then adding a feature colour behind the cabinetry added contrast and modernised the space. Being able to work with a range of materials to create a striking but practical room for all to enjoy and use was a delight. I look forward to using more of Plantation Bamboo products in the future.”
