Innovative Use Of Bamboo Panels

Innovative use of bamboo in fabulous Northland home.

Bay of Island’s homeowner Kurt, is delighted with his new home, which featured some innovative use of our bamboo panels and flooring.

A range of bamboo panels were used to make floating stairs, kitchen cabinetry and joinery, a bedhead and floating side unit and shelving. Plus, our bamboo elite flooring was used to make a stunning feature ceiling!

We asked Kurt what was the reason behind using our bamboo panels in his joinery and as floating stairs?

He said, “Plantation Bamboo panels were used extensively as a cabinetry feature material to add warmth and interest to the stark laminate, white walls, and grey flooring.”

“After some structural calculations and testing, two 40mm vertical coffee bamboo panels were laminated together to 80mm thickness making a lovely edge-supported open riser stair tread with the right amount riser gap”.

“A unique use of bamboo elite coffee flooring on the vaulted ceiling of the indoor/outdoor patio space adds more variation than negative detail ply or bamboo panels, bringing the wooded grounds indoors”, Kurt added.

The click-locking join system of flooring material matched the bamboo joinery and was prefinished, this looked similar to the joinery finish chosen by the owners.

“Overall, we are very pleased with the unifying theme of having only one natural wood tone finish throughout the project, and using various Plantation Bamboo products adds just enough interest.”
